Enviromental funding grants – NI Challenge Fund still open to Schools

A reminder to schools around Northern Ireland that the Dept of the Environment Challenge fun remains open until the 25th September offering funding for environmental projects.

My colleague Minister Mark H Durkan has this week announced funding of over £200,000 to 33 community groups across the North. The money comes from the carrier bag levy, and supports smaller local environmental projects. I was delighted that Mornington Community Project on the Ormeau Road was allocated £8,000 for a community garden and home growing workshops, benefiting the local neighbourhood. Greater Village Regeneration Trust was also allocated £7,500 for school based workshops.

Although applications are now closed for such community groups, the closing date for schools is the 25th September and I would recommend schools consider applying if they have any relevant projects.
